Astro Empire

http://www.astroempires.com/

Astro Empires (AE) is a highly addictive internet browser game opened in May 2006. The game has attracted over 40,000 players since it first opened and has recently started play on its sixth server, known as Fenix.

The game takes place in one universe spanning dozens of galaxies, thousands of systems and tens of thousands of worlds in which players can build up their own Astro Empire of the stars.

Game Mechanics

The game begins with a single base. From that planet the player uses ‘credits’, which are generated at an hourly rate, to build ships, structures or research new technologies. As the player researches new technologies, new units and structures become available to the player with greater power or greater economic value.

As the game moves on players enlarge their empires through colonizing new worlds, trading with other players or warring with other empires.

Also you can Join Guilds which are the Basic Element of the Game for Teamwork. Once you Join a Guild you work towards a Common Goal with that guild. It is wise To Join a Guild once you begin Playing due to the Fact that if you Don't People will Farm (attack and steal economy from your bases) you.

Real-Time

Astro Empires is a persistent universe; this means that the game keeps going on after the player has gone offline. Thus, if a player is offline attacks may still be launched against him. For this reason the game requires a lot of attention if one's guild gets involved in a war with another guild. Scanners allow players to see incoming ships; however, the amount of warning may vary depending on the size of the fleet (hours or even minutes).

Construction times also increase as players improve upon their buildings. For example the ‘Metal Refinery’ which is a staple building at first level takes 10 minutes to build while later on in the game in can take hundreds of hours to complete a new level.

The Real-time aspect and longer player bias has been cited as the reason for many players leaving the game. Players often will have recently left the player protection, and return to the game, only to find their fleet in ruins and their planets occupied. This causes many to leave the game, or in extreme cases, makes them retaliate against their occupier's guild with whatever fleet they have left. This can put them in a yet worse situation.

War

Astro Empires is partially a war game therefore much of the efforts of the creators have been in the war elements of the game. Conquering another player's ‘base’ or ‘planet’ allows the occupier to gain a reward of 30% of the bases income each hour and the ability to pillage a percentage of the players savings once a day.

There are multiple ship types in the game of varying costs and sizes which each have their own advantages and disadvantages. For example the ‘Dreadnought’ is good in capital ship combat however it can be taken down with much less than its credit value of ‘Heavy Bombers’.

In addition to Player versus Player combat there are two NPC empires in the game. The United Colonies, made of players who go inactive, and the Drekons, a dreaded race of highly advanced aliens who have come to the universe to wreak havoc.

Politics

Although not being an original part of the game Politics have grown out of the forums as different guilds (Large in-game alliances made of players) form Non-Aggression Pacts (NAPs), Mutual Defense Pacts (MDPs) and Alliances with each other.

Political events, broken treaties and wars are fought on the forums almost as often as they are fought in game.

Upgraded Status

Currently, there are two types of accounts: Upgraded and Free. Players begin their first week of play with an ugraded account and are downgraded to a lower account after this week. These additional features are offered to encourage users to help the game develop and fund its operation. Upgraded accounts get the following advantages.

  • No advertising
  • No limit of maximum bases
  • No limit of advanced structures
  • Construction Queue increased from 2 to 5
  • Research Queue increased from 2 to 5
  • Inbox/ Board message view increased from 10 to 20
  • Location Bookmarks increased from 15 to 30
  • Empire Scanner activated
  • Personal Avatar Uploadable
  • Account not deleted after 15 day inactivity

Ghost Trappers

apps.facebook.com/ghost-trappers/

Welcome to Scotland! In Ghost Trappers you are a secret agent of S.C.O.T.C.H. (Secret Corporation of Trapping Castle Hauntings). It is your task to make the world aware of the fact that ghosts truly do exist. In your journey to becoming a legendary hunter you will travel all different places in Scotland where ghosts have been sighted. Your job is to place traps and bait ghosts with the only mundane thing they are interested in: whisky. Once a ghost has been trapped you can take a snap-shot of it and collect it in your photo album which one day will be revealed to the world.

Ghost Trappers is a passive game, meaning you can come back and check your trap at given intervals. You don't have to spend time in the application itself, but must keep logged onto facebook. You lay out a strategy to catch the most prestigious ghosts and benefit from that plan later. Ghost Trappers was created by Diviad. The game will be improved and expanded, as new features will be added.

There are many ghosts out there. Some are common and easy to catch, some are extremely rare and almost impossible to catch. Some ghosts can only be found at special locations. Part of the game is to find out where you can catch which ghost. During midnight hour hunting you can catch alternate versions of some ghosts along with some ghosts that only haunt the places during midnight hour. Prize ghosts are the rarest ghosts in the game. Successfully trapping them means that you will win a cash prize and receive some other items in real life.

There are four ways to hunt:

  • Every 15 minutes you can check your trap by clicking on "Let's hunt". The hunt will be started by you and you will take all your friends along who are in the same region, have whisky armed and have a free friend-hunting cool down. You will receive a maximum of 60 XP for bringing friends along.

  • Automatic trap system: Once every hour there will be an automatic trap check, regardless of any hunting cool down.

  • If one of your friends starts a hunt, you will join him or her if you are at the same hunting ground and if you haven't been taken along by a friend for a certain period of time.

  • Midnight hour hunting: Midnight hour lasts from 12am to 1am. You could try to catch ghosts 4 times during midnight hour and take pictures of alternate versions of some ghosts. Some special ghosts only haunt during midnight hour.

Your trap consists of two components: the mechanism, which is the gadget that is used for fixating ghosts, and the mystical circle, which empowers the mechanism. You can buy mechanisms and magic circles in the gear store, or you can trade them in for schematics and formulas. There are two major attributes:

  • Power: The strength of your trap. In order to trap a ghost your power must be higher than the scare factor. Be aware that there will be random effects when trying to catch a ghost.

  • Mystic power. Mystic power represents the chance to trap a ghost regardless of its scare factor. Some ghosts may only be caught with a high mystic power.
The components of the trap as well as the whisky can be changed in the setup menu.

Ghosts love whisky. It can be bought in the gear store or can be obtained from ghost loot. Some whisky brands attract rarer ghosts, some improve the power of your trap, others give you special bonuses. The fact that one whisky is more expensive than another one just means that it is different and has more exotic properties. It doesn't neccessarily have to be stronger. However, there is one exception: Nessy's Golden Reserve has a very high attraction rate, will never be stolen or be affected by the Angel's Share. "Nessy's" as we call it can only be acquired by donating, thus helping to improve the game and to add new exciting features. If you want to help then click on the "Donate" button.

Angels' Share is the term for the amount of whisky which evaporates through the wood of the barrel - good whisky can be enjoyed by Men and Angels alike.

Scotland is divided into regions which in turn consist of 4 locations (also called 'hunting grounds'). Players need a certain rank to visit the locations. The game will start in the region called "Dumfries and Galloway". Players need to find tickets, which are dropped by ghosts, to unlock further regions and locations on the map. To travel to unlocked locations simply click on its picture and confirm travelling.

Dungeons and Treasures

Well i just play this game a few days ago. It's interesting for me because i found out dungeons-style games can be played on a web lol. Well maybe it's just me.
But one thing that makes me more interested on this game, that was 'you can be paid for play'.
What i read is at the end of the month any gold that earned on this game can be converted to real cash.
The gamplay is quite simple as you can see on any other dungeon-type games.
You're moving on a dungeon with arrow-style directions and you may encounter monsters that you can kill or catch.
You can also buy weapons and armors to strenghten your character.
Buy potions to heal your wounds.
Or buy magics to attack monsters.
Sell anything that you've found on the dungeons or sell monsters that you have catched.
In the end i guess the main goal is to collect gold as many as you can to convert it into real cash.
